Oyster Parade Costume  & Props Workshop sessions to help bring the Whitstable Oyster Parade to life start from as early as Thursday 18th July and are completely FREE to take part in!

Taking inspiration from local stories, strange sightings and seafaring legends, ‘They Came From The Deep’ is a community project that will bring to life a new mythical folk tale inspired by our remarkable seaside town. After the success of last year’s Oyster Festival Parade, they will again be creating big build models for the annual parade based on the theme of local myths and legends.

Throughout July there will be both guided workshops and drop in sessions to create models and carnival props for the Oyster Parade. Take part in their FREE Mythical Model Making Workshops

FAMILY BIG BUILD SESSIONS: Drop in, no need to book Thursday 18th July: 3pm – 5pm Sunday 21st July: 11am – 3pm Help us decorate our big build parade models or make your own wearable costumes at our creation stations should you like to join in the parade too.

PARADE PROPS WORKSHOPS: Thursday 25 July and Friday 26th July.

10-11am Under 6’s and 11.30am – 12.30pm Ages 6 – 11 In these guided sessions, learn to make mini mythical creatures and create costumes and props that will feature in the parade.

I Spy Window Competition

I SPY Window Competition – “Nab the Crab” Fun for all children fining Crabs in shop and business windows from Gladstone Road to the Railway Bridge. The entry forms will be available to collect from George’s Mini Market from 25/7/19 through to 2/8/19. Winner to be announced 3rd Aug.

Prize of £20 Voucher to spend in George’s Mini Market.

Best dressed window Competition

Whitstable Oyster festival Best Dressed Window competition. Being judged Thursday 25th July for all to see and enjoy throughout the festival. This includes businesses from Tankerton through to Oxford Street.
