Start Time:09:00 for a 09:30 Landing

Head to the beach for high tide! The oysters are arriving! The event signals the official start of the Festival when a symbolic haul of oysters is landed on the beach, complete with traditional costume and yokes. The oysters are received by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury and blessed by the clergy… let the festivities begin!

World-famous local Whitstable Rock Oysters, with PGI status, grown on the company’s own oyster beds, kindly donated by Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company.
