The Oyster Parade

Date: Saturday 21st July, 2018
Start Time:11:00 (gather at 10:45 to not miss the start!)
Location:The parade leaves from the Harbour

It’s back! Following straight on from the Landing of the Oysters, join the revelry as the Lord Mayor and the Oyster Cart echo history as they lead the way in symbolically delivering the mighty mollusc to restaurants and hostelries along Harbour Street, High Street and Oxford Street.

The parade will be kept lively with costumes, musicians (including Whitstable’s infamous Samba Pelo Mar) and the up-cycled artistic creations produced by local groups during the pre-festival workshops led by The Horsebridge Arts Centre who will be exploring the effects of waste on our environment and how we can keep Whitstable beautiful for all of us creatures living on the land and in the sea! (sign up information to follow).

If you would like your community group to take part in the Oyster Parade, please contact us at

As the philosopher Jagger once said:
“You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes…”
